Partisanship: What's Really at Stake?

Partisanship:  What's Really at Stake?

Those who are sick of the squabbling of the so-called negotiations in Washington to avoid flying off the fiscal cliff seem to chalk it up to the pettiness of partisan politics, as if that is bad.  Maybe in many people's minds these long drawn out negotiations are all about posturing and appearance, and they may be.  Personally I am half convinced that the script was written weeks ago, and that what we are now seeing is merely kabuki theater.  Regardless however, I believe that partisan politics is more important now than it ever has been before.

Barack Obama and the liberals in Congress, over the past four years, have taken this country to the brink of constitutional catastrophe.  Leave it to an academic, however, to plumb the ultimate depths of asininity.  Legal Insurrection has the story of a Georgetown professor's opinion piece in today's New York Times, who states that America's problems are due to "...our insistence on obedience to the Constitution, with all its archaic, idiosyncratic and downright evil provisions..."

Like many conservatives, I have a deep foreboding that the outcome of November's election will be the kiss of death to America as we have known it, and that in another four years' time, the American landscape will be markedly changed for the worse.

You're damn right I want the conservatives in Congress to be partisan!

For the moment, I could care less whether they are partisan out of vaingloriousness or deep devotion to the constitution of the United States, because for the moment, the stakes could not be higher.

Here's to the Battle for America in 2013.

Sean Arce, Mexican American Studies Director and "Maestro of Authentic Caring" Arrested for Domestic Violence Assault, Damage and Trespassing

From  Arizona Daily Independent, via Morning in Arizona.

Sean Arce, former director of the Mexican American Studies program (formerly known as "Raza Studies") in the Tucson Unified School District, who continues to raise funds and push for the reinstatement of MAS, was arrested last month on charges of domestic violence.  His claims of having created "Barrio Pedagogy," and that he is hailed by friends as a "maestro of authentic caring", create a sharp dissonance, as Arce was arrested and booked for Domestic Violence Assault, Domestic Violence Damage, and Domestic Violence Trespassing after a series of incidents on one night last month.  The full story is worth reading and can be found here.  It involves his ex-wife getting a hyperextended elbow, some broken window glass, blood, and the police arresting him at the Starr Pass Marriott Resort and Spa where he was staying (at a minimum of $200/night).  Arce soon found himself being processed into the not-so-swanky confines of the Pima County Jail.

[BACKGROUND: MAS was group of courses taught specifically to Hispanic/Latino children along a curriculum aligned with La Raza, MEChA, and their concerted effort to reclaim "Aztlan" ("The Race's" homeland that happens to be the southwest U.S./North America/all of N and S America depending on who you're talking with). The TUSD students were being taught that they were oppressed by white men, that they could be part of a great revolution to take back control and independence over Aztlan, and that any Hispanic or Latino was not a Machismo because they are "vendidos" or traitors, fitting in with the white man's society. Other Conservative Observer AZ blog postings are Here, here, here, here and here, for starters.]

While the guilt or innocence of Sean Arce relative to domestic violence will be determined in a court of law, his lack of integrity falls squarely in line with how those within and those supporting TUSD's MAS operate.  Tucsonans United for Sound Districts (TU4SD.com), a non-partison group of parents, educators and community members with a vested interest in educating Tucson's youth put it this way:
"...the use of a wasteful curriculum that is abhorrent to the overwhelming majority of American voters, mob actions by extremist groups in defense of their programs of indoctrination, the silencing through terror of anyone who opposes the extremists, the alliance of these extremists with overtly anti-American groups, and the misuse of public funds to support junkets and other perks for public employees."

In January 2012, the State of Arizona Superintendent of Public Instruction John Huppenthal banned TUSD's MAS based on the ruling of an Arizona administrative judge, who found that the program violated Arizona's constitution.  Specifically, the program was aimed at a single ethnic group, was divisive and racially incendiary.

MAS was still being pushed at TUSD board meetings as recently as November 27th, 2012.  MAS specifically was not on the agenda, but public commentary about MAS dominated the meeting, including a statement from Arizona CD-3 über-progressive congressidiot, Raul "boycott Arizona" Grijalva:
"A representative from U.S. Rep. Raúl Grijalva's office read a comment prepared by the congressman, who supported the classes and cited a recent study that showed a link between them and improved student achievement. "These successes, which would have been impossible without the MAS curriculum, can and should be repeated," he said."

Yet, from TU4SD.com:
"Mexican American students attending TUSD schools graduate at an 83% rate regardless of whether they have taken none of these classes, one of them or a half dozen of them. Proponents of MAS classes used to claim that 97% of students in the program graduated until TUSD’s own numbers blew that claim out of the water. Proponents used to claim that MAS students scored better on Arizona’s AIMS test until the tests results shared by TUSD proved that students who have never taken a single MAS class scored slightly better on the AIMS test than students who took these classes. These classes are wasteful because the fear of indoctrination has caused thousands of students who live within TUSD’s boundaries to leave the district for neighboring districts, charter schools and private schools. This has cost the district millions of dollars a year in lost state revenue and has resulted in a district that is more segregated now than it ever was."

Arce's next court action will be a pretrial hearing in Tucson City Court on Monday, Jan. 8.

An Email to Dwight Worley

I had a little bit of time this week, so I sent the following to Dwight Worley, the guy who calls himself a "journalist" who published the names of legal gun owners in his NY paper (EXCLUDING himself, although he is also a gun owner).  Although I cannot immediately find it, a blogger posted the names, addresses etc. of the editor and  all "journalists" at the paper and mapped it at Google.  Probaby several have by now.  Hooray for whoever it was!

UPDATE:  It's at For What It's Worth.  Big hat tip to Innominatus.

Acting on that bit of sleuthing by a fellow blogger, I wrote as indicated.  As you can tell, I didn't put in time crafting it much.  Sometimes I knee jerk too quickly.  Anyhoo...I suggest you let Mr. Worley know what you think of his actions at any of his addresses below in red.

Mr. Worley,
Does publishing peoples’ names and addresses with your obvious intent at their harm seem fair and just to you?  Just like when Spike Lee tweeted George Zimmerman’s parents address So that the New Black Panthers would incite a lynch mob to attack?  Lee was wrong, and Lee had to pay dearly ( just some money, nothing important).

So tell me, Worley, how does it feel to have all of America electronically looking up your name address, published stances on issues? Does it feel threatening?  Like you are being coerced into a very uncomfortable position?

I hope you get back tenfold what you intended for the gun owners whose privacy you raped.

The White House, The FBI, and Criminal Firearm Statistics

They're used to be a game show back in the 1960s called, "You Don't Say".  Their tag line was, "It's not what you say that matters, it's what you DON'T say!"  That holds true when somebody is quoting statistics, but especially when it's the mainstream media and the White House.

USA Today ran two stories today about the evils of guns.  The first story cited statistics from the FBI under the patently misleading headline, "Mass killings occur in USA once every two weeks".  OMG run for your life!  This is the kind of hysteria-seeking behavior the media is so well known for that also has the effect of encouraging copycatters to claim their 15 minutes of fame.

The authors report doing serious research in FBI statistics to make this claim.

Here's what they don't say.  First of all, what the FBI means by "mass killings" (4 or more deaths at one crime scene not including the perp), is not the same thing that a man on the street thinks when he sees that term in a headline. But that's what you get from a couple of "journalists" with an agenda.

In spite of the article's claim to the contrary, the FBI does have statistics for 2011. Out of 12,664 homicides , there were nearly 1.5 times as many committed without a firearm as there were committed with a firearm. In 2009 and 2010, there were 1.4 times as many robberies committed without a firearm as there were with one, and in those same two years, there were nearly FOUR TIMES as many aggravated assaults committed without a firearm as there were committed with a firearm.

Surprise!  The press and the White House are liars and spinsters.

The second article by USA Today ("President Obama appointed Vice President Biden to lead a team to develop a comprehensive strategy to combat gun violence") describes a concerned President Obama putting Vice President Joe Biden in charge (snork) of "find[ing] ways 'to reduce the epidemic of gun violence that plagues this country every single day,'" which is another melodramatic baldfaced lie.  As stated above, violent crimes and homicides occur far more frequently without a firearm than with one.  1) A bad thing to be sure, but hardly an epidemic; 2) as the statistics show, the problem is not guns.  The problem is crime and mental illness; in short, PEOPLE!

An epidemic of spoons wasn't what made Rosie O'Donnell fat!

Additionally, nobody is claiming that we should not try to reduce crime despite the president's assertion that there "can't be an excuse not to try."

Never let a good crisis go to waste.  --Rahm Emmanuel

White House Noose Summary

By all reports, President Obama's Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program is going slowly.  Concerned that eligible immigrants will not be able to financially sustain themselves while awaiting approval, Mr. Obama's creative mind has created a pilot emergency program called the Welfare Expedited Test for DREAMers.  Referring back to his being denied a "normal" upbringing, the president said that the program was based loosely on experiences he was denied in his adolescent years.  The President stated he was personally eager to track its progress.

Meanwhile, House Republicans, wanting to show their disdain for Obama's programs while at the same time appearing concerned, have put forward their own version of the amnesty program.  This would provide means for an immigrant who came to the U.S. as a child to be taken under the custodial wing of a caring Democrat.  Referred to as Custodial Action for Childhood Arrivals, or CACA, Senator Hairy Reid said flatly that the bill wasn't going anywhere, and he wasn't going to take any crap over it.

In other news, when asked by a reporter about the president's reaction to the recent legalization of marijuana in a number of states, White House spokesman Jay Carnage coyly responded that the president was "highly" concerned about the effects of inequities between the different states (e.g., large population migrations), and was considering an executive order titled, Regulation of Extended Equity for Energy Reciprocity.  When asked what energy reciprocity was, and what it had to do with legalization of marijuana, Carnage replied that it was patently obvious and that he wasn't going to waste his time explaining banal trivialities.

Libtard Solution: More Killing!!!!

Calling for a shooting spree to eradicate a "gun problem" shows that liberals have less intelligence than a bag of rocks.

Is there equal protection under the law?

Don't You DARE...

Don't you DARE take the responsibility off of Adam Lanza by blaming "guns", and try to make the problem go away by making guns go away.

"Fla. caseworker stabbed to death during home visit"
"22 kids, 1 adult injured in knife attack outside Chinese school"
"Hero instructor fought son in Wyoming college bow-and-arrow murder-suicide, police say"
"Florida man stabs roommate to death for stealing food, police say"
"Pennsylvania suspect in baby, grandmother deaths allegedly tells police he lost $15,000 at casinos (knife)"
"New Mexico woman shot intruder who followed her home, deputies say" (attacked with a knife, gun saved her life)
"Police: Bloody knife recovered at Pennsylvania fiance death scene"
"Pa. woman jailed in knife and brick attack on women at son's Chuck E. Cheese party"
"Boy threatens baby sitter with knife over homework, police say"

"Anchorage woman accused of pouring gas on sleeping boyfriend, setting him afire "

And on it goes...

Get the point?  Did Rosie O'Donnell get fat because of a lack of spoon control?

(Warning! Velcro Rant) Napolitano: Immigrant Criminals Get Favor Over Their American Victims

Via Breitbart, from The Boston Globe.

[And the left wonders why conservatives are so angry and regard liberals as sh**heads...]

Security-minded Janet Napolitano keeps Americans in the dark - even crime victims - when she turns loose criminal non-citizen immigrants back into our society (after serving their time).

The reason they are turned loose here? Because their country of origin won't take them back.
The reason she won't identify them? Because the criminal immigrants' right to privacy outweighs the public's interest [read: safety] in knowing their identities.
About how many people are we talking about here?  Since 2008, 8,500!

Says the Globe: "But a senior Obama administration official, speaking on condition of anonymity because he is not authorized to speak for the agency, said the department releases more detailed information on a case by case basis when there is a significant public interest."

Really?  Who the hell gets to decide that?  Big Brother government, that's who.

Globe continues, citing the anonymous Señor official:  "...the administration has made significant strides in making the massive immigration system more open to public scrutiny, such as posting online the names of immigrants who die in immigration custody and providing a searchable database so relatives can find detainees."

That's sort of one-sided, isn't it... open to public scrutiny when it benefits the liberal narrative.  WHAT THE F*** ABOUT THE REST OF US AMERICANS, A$$HOLE?

"But the Globe contends release of the information is a matter of public safety."
No sh**, Sherlock!  Where were you when Fast and Furious was stonewalled?  Where were you when Benghazi was covered up?  Why aren't you checking out all of these Executive Orders that are quietly being issued?

But I digress.  "The government has not notified most crime victims of the release, and many released immigrants have gone on to commit new crimes, such as a criminal from Bangladesh who murdered an elderly woman in New York state last year, just weeks after immigration officials released him."

Obama has called for all federal agencies to be more open about sharing information, saying that “in the face of doubt, openness prevails.”

Yeah, right.

Barack Obama's Quiet Consolidation of Power: EO 13603

The Defense Production Act of 1950 was passed by Congress at the outbreak of the Korean war.  The act gives the president authority to require industries to prioritize government contracts for the procurement of materials and supplies that were deemed critical to the national defense.  The act also gave the president authority to set up systems to allocate materials and to make them economically feasible for industry suppliers.  The intention of the act was to mobilize industry to put America back on a wartime footing for the Korean war.

However, under the act the president could not use this authority to control the distribution of any material in the civilian market unless he makes two findings: 1) that the material in question is critical and essential to national defense, and is scarce; and 2) that the requirements of national defense for the critical material cannot be met without "creating a significant dislocation of the normal distribution of such material in the civilian market to such a degree as to create appreciable hardship."

Fast forward.  On March 16, 2012, president Obama promulgated executive order 13603, titled National Defense Resources Preparedness.  The purpose of this executive order is to amend the Defense Production Act of 1950 in several ways.  First, the authority granted to the president is delegated to six cabinet secretaries.  The two findings are still required, but the secretaries can make them and submit them to the president.  The Cabinet secretaries named are Agriculture, Energy, Health and Human Services, and Transportation, which have presidential authority delegated to their respective areas.  Additionally, the Secretary of Defense is delegated the authority with respect to water resources, and the Secretary of Commerce with respect to all other materials, services and facilities, including construction materials.
The Defense Production Act of 1950 referred to scarce and critical materials essential to national defense.  In contrast, executive order 13603 "...shall be used to promote the national defense, under both emergency and non-emergency conditions." The order continues, "The secretary of each resource department, when necessary, shall make the finding required [the two indicated in the defense production act]…  [and] this finding shall be submitted for the president's approval…  Upon such approval, the secretary of the resource department…  May use the authority…  To control the general distribution of any material (including applicable services) in the civilian market."

  1. The Defense Production Act of 1950 was legislation.  Obama's amendment is executive order.
  2. The Defense Production Act of 1950 was enacted because of the outbreak of war.  Obama claims to be winding down America's involvement in war.
  3. The Defense Production Act of 1950 was focused on war-critical material such as steel and aluminum.  Obama's order applies to "any material...in the civilian market."

What could possibly go wrong?

Executive Order 13629, Part IV - Gateway To A Police State

This is the final part of the series on Executive Order 13629, given by President Barack Obama on October 26, 2012.  Issued during Hurricane Sandy, Benghazi, and the heat of the election campaign, few probably noticed.  It is, in my opinion, extemely dangerous.  Especially so since many Americans do not trust this man.
For brevity's sake, I am not going to review Parts I, II, and III.  If you aren't familiar with the first 3 posts in this series, please go back and read them, or you can read Part III and get a quick overview that way.

The White House Homeland Security Partnership Council consists of 3 main segments,
  • the Personal Assistant to the President for Homeland Security and Counterterrorism,
  • the Steering Committee,
  • and the Council proper.
The Personal Assistant to the President is the Chair of both the Steering Committee and the general Council.  This person convenes all meetings, determines the agendas and coordinates the work.  This is a very powerful person.

The Steering Committee is made up of deputy agency head level (Presidential appointees) from 19 Cabinet Agencies.  These are State, Treasury, Defense, Justice, Interior, Commerce, Agriculture, Labor, Health & Human Services, Housing and Urban Development, Transportation, Energy, Education, Veteran's Affairs, Homeland Security, Office of the Director of National Intelligence, Environmental Protection Agency, Small Business Administration, and the FBI.  This is essentially a secondary Cabinet.

This is a very exclusive group, driven top-down, suggesting very close involvement of the President.  The Steering Committee provides guidance to the Council, whose members they also select:
"The nomination process and selection criteria for members of the Council shall be established by the Steering Committee. Based on those criteria, agency heads may select and present to the Steering Committee their nominee or nominees to represent them on the Council. The Steering Committee shall consider all of the nominees and decide by consensus which of the nominees shall participate on the Council. Each member agency on the Steering Committee, with the exception of the Office of the Director of National Intelligence, may have at least one representative on the Council."

(a) The Council shall... [with my comments in blue]
consistent with guidance from the Steering Committee [Read: do the bidding of the Steering Committee]:
(i) advise the Chair and Steering Committee members on priorities, challenges, and opportunities for local partnerships to support homeland security priorities, as well as regularly report to the Steering Committee on the Council's efforts;  [Read:  The Council will be the eyes and ears of the Steering Committee, prowling for opportunities to seize upon.]
(ii) promote homeland security priorities and opportunities for collaboration between Federal Government field offices and State, local, tribal, and territorial stakeholders; [read: spread the word that we're looking for a few useful people]
(iii) advise and confer with State, local, tribal, and territorial stakeholders and agencies interested in expanding or building local homeland security partnerships; [read: make contact with and actively recruit entities looking to expand their influence and willing to be useful]
(iv) raise awareness of local partnership best practices that can support homeland security priorities; [read: Put the federal blessing on and identify these local groups they have empowered]
(v) as appropriate, conduct outreach to representatives of the private sector, nongovernmental organizations, foundations, community-based organizations, and State, local, tribal, and territorial government and law enforcement entities with relevant expertise for local homeland security partnerships, and collaborate with other Federal Government bodies; [read: seek out and recruit groups who have the reputation for getting the job done and are willing to play ball]
(vi) convene an annual meeting to exchange key findings, progress, and best practices.  [read: have an annual bash where we can party and brag about our conquests and recruitments]

(b) The Steering Committee shall:
(i) determine the scope of issue areas the Council will address and its operating protocols, in consultation with the Office of Management and Budget; [read: we will define the parameters of what we're looking for and what homeland security threats exist, bounded only by our budget]
(ii) establish the nomination process and selection criteria for members of the Council as set forth in section 2(b)(ii) of this order; [read: we will handpick those we allow to sit on the Council, so as to be sure that we are getting people who support the President's agenda]
(iii) provide guidance to the Council on the activities set forth in subsection (a) of this section; [read: closely oversee the things the Council members are doing to make sure they are recruiting the "right" kind of people]
(iv) within 1 year of the selection of the Council members, and annually thereafter, provide a report on the work of the Council to the President through the Chair.[read: we will keep the President informed, with the only paper trail being a carefully craftted annual report for him]

Observations and Conclusions:
  1. Everything and everyone mentioned in this Executive Order is inside the Executive branch of government.  There is NO outside accountability, approval, or guidance provided for.
  2. Addressing homeland security threats - no caps, no definition - is generally viewed as a law enforcement job, but this is nearly all-encompassing in its reach.
  3. The Steering Committee decides how broad the issues of their purview will be, and essentially handpicks the scouts and the recruits to address them.
  4. The broad sweep of this order casts a much wider net for groups "interested in expanding or building local homeland security partnerships", who want to "raise awareness of 'best practices' enforcing homeland security priorities (not threats);
  5. ???
Not proof or even anecdotal, but how easy could this happen:

Sex, Lies, and AUO

I'll finish the Executive Order series next, but first, I need to give you an update about the Border Patrol.

It's an age-old story.  Make bricks without straw and don't you dare lower your output.  Small men (and women) torture and belittle those under them so that they can delude themselves into the fantasy of pretending to be people of consequence.  Mistreating the little people, holding information over their heads like a piece of yarn over a cat.

Such seems to be the lot of the frontline Border Patrol agent these days.  Good people have died and been wounded because of Fast and Furious, but any accountability for those responsible has been lost amidst follow-on scandals and other pressing issues.  Nick Ivie died because drug smugglers were trafficking drugs, regardless of how he died...a fact which seems to be lost on everyone.  Ho-hum.

Meanwhile, back at headquarters, the bigwigs are playing doctor, the good old boys are giving themselves golden parachutes while toying with financial uncertainty in the future of the worker bees.  Read on.

What's AUO?  Well, imagine this:  The good guys are chasing the bad guys and are getting close to catching them, when the whistle sounds signaling that it's quitting time.  I'd like to see the good guys keep going and catch the bad guys and get paid for their perseverence.  That extra time is called Administratively Unavoidable Overtime, AUO, and it's worth a lot to an agent with a spouse and two young kids, like potentially 32% of his or her pay, as I understand it.

But at the same time, while the good old boys are sitting in their offices sipping coffee and figuring out ways to give themselves golden parachutes and early retirement, they're also cutting back on AUO, while saying that they're only "monitoring" it...

You can read about what's happening and how it's going down among those worker bees at www.local2544.org.

Given these conditions, why would anyone continue to serve in the Border Patrol?  Maybe some feel extorted into staying on, having no other place they can go, or maybe there's a deeper sense of mission borne of patriotism, or both, and more.  Next time you see an agent though, thank him or her.  And let the people in Washington know what you think about all this.

Presidential Executive Order - Part III

This is the third of four posts about Presidential Executive Order 13629, as it apparently is known. I really don't like reading seemingly endless series' of posts like this. So I ask your pardon and promise that the next post - the 4th - will be the final one. That one will have two final areas of the Order to look at, and then I will close with comments and, for the unconvinced, an estimate of my lack of reality testing.
If you've freshly read the first two posts in this series, then feel free to skip the REVIEW and head to the section titled, CONTINUING, PART III.

Presidential Executive Order 13629 (October 26, 2012), promulgated by Barack Hussein Obama, establishes the "White House Homeland Security Partnership Council".
  • to advance the Federal Government's use of local partnerships to address homeland security challenges
  • Partnerships are collaborative working relationships
  • Collaboration, with respect to addressing homeland security challenges, enables the Federal Government and its partners to
    • Use resources more efficiently
    • Build on one another's expertise
    • Drive innovation
    • Engage in collective action
    • Broaden investments
    • Improve performance.
  • National Security Strategy (a 2010 document worth examining at another time) emphasizes the importance of partnerships:
  • "[Federal Government] must tap the ingenuity outside government through stategic partnerships with:
    • Private sector
    • NGOs
    • Foundations
    • Community-based organizations.
  • We will support such partnerships through
    • Opportunities for engagement
    • Coordination
    • Transparency
    • Information sharing.
  • We must institutionalize an all-of-nation effort."
I held up two facts against this backdrop of "homeland security challenges": 1) the mass purchase of hundreds of millions of hollow point bullets by the Social Security Administration, National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, and Homeland Security; and 2) Lee DeCovnick's American Thinker post citing Obama's July 2, 2008 speech asserting the need for a civilian national security force equal in strength and support as the U.S. military.

So, Barack Obama wants to establish many - hundreds? - of partnerships with local entities to address homeland security problems.  How will that be accomplished?

This executive order establishes the White House Homeland Security Partnership Council, and appoints as its chair the Assistant to the President for Homeland Security and Counterterrorism. Note that this new position is NOT a Cabinet position, but rather a personal "assistant to the President" position within the White House. A czar, if you will, answerable only to Barack Obama.

Who will be on the Council, and how will they be selected?

The Council will be composed of Federal officials who are from field offices of the executive departments, agencies, and bureaus. In other words, employees who work for agencies of the executive branch of the Federal Government all across America. These are people who would have lots of working knowledge of local organizations and groups who would be willing to be used by the Federal Government the President to address homeland security (lower case) threats. Presumably, these are the people who would specially recruit and recommend those local groups thought to be fit for duty as part of our "all-of-nation" effort to fight homeland security threats.

Do you think they will be forwarding any "fishy" email addresses?

This Council of field officers will be selected by members of the Steering Committee.  The Steering Committee shall include a representative at the deputy agency head level, just below the Cabinet level, from 19 Executive branch agencies.  So these are very high, very powerful people, very close to the Presidential level.

By the way, representatives of Executive branch agencies not represented in the 19 named agencies may be added to the Steering Committee by invitation of the Chair.

Do you get the sense that this whole project is going to be under the very close supervision of the President himself?  I do.

Next: Final installment: The Council's 6 tasks, the enormous power of the Steering Committee, and what all this may - or may not - mean.

Executive Order, Part 2

My last post introduced President Obama's Executive Order of October 26, 2012, establishing the White House Homeland Security Partnership Council (let's just say, "Council").  I pointed out that BO wants to "advance the Federal Government's use of local partnerships to address homeland security challenges...".  I then juxtaposed the odd fact that the Social Security Administration, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, and the Department of Homeland Security collectively have ordered 750,220,000 rounds of hollow point bullets last summer, bullets whose use is exclusively to rip apart flesh.

Maybe I'm just being paranoid.  But let's go on anyway...

One final note before getting into Section 2 of the Executive Order.  After reiterating the value of partnerships with "...private sector, nongovernmental organizations, foundations, community-based organizations, and State, local, tribal, and territorial government and law enforcement," the 3rd paragraph ends with the curious phrase, "we must institutionalize an all-of-Nation effort to address the evolving threats to the United States."

What does this mean?  To institutionalize is to establish "a permanent rule of conduct or of government; something forming a prominent or established feature in social or national life" (Webster).  It is not that DHS wants ordinary citizens to keep their eyes open and report suspicious activity.  This isn't the DHS, and that's not what this is about.

Well, halfway through this post I discovered that Lee DeCovnick posted a very similar analysis of this Executive Order at American Thinker on November 5, 2012.  There, he reminds us of

"...this quote from Obama's July 2, 2008 speech:
We cannot continue to rely on our military in order to achieve the national security objectives that we've set. We've got to have a civilian national security force that's just as powerful, just as strong, just as well-funded."

DeCovnick speculates on who might be included among the NGOs, community-based organizations, etc. who might make up this civilian security force:
"Is there any doubt that this administration and its czars would seek partnerships with La Raza, ACORN and its renamed offshoots, Move On, PETA, the Center for American Progress, Media Matters, CAIR and other Islamic organizations, the Sierra Club, AFL-CIO, the SEIU, and the AFT and CTA?"
But then again, maybe I'm just being paranoid, right?
More to come.  (I'll try not to drag this out too much more).

Presidential Executive Order of 26 Oct. 2012... or... It's Not Paranoia If They're Really After You

Another Executive Order to skirt Congress, issued October 26, 2012,  wasting more millions of your tax dollars.

BO is creating yet another agency, called the "White House Homeland Security Partnership Council," whose purpose is "...to advance the Federal Government's use of local partnerships to address homeland security challenges..."

Did you catch that?  Wait...what?

Let me repeat that, with my own emphasis:  "...to advance the Federal Government's USE OF LOCAL PARTNERSHIPS to address HOMELAND SECURITY CHALLENGES..."

"...to advance the Federal Government's use of..."
"...to address homeland security challenges..."

Border?  No, this isn't a border issue.  What would this mean in, say, Kansas?  But...let's read more.

"Collaboration enables the Federal Government and its partners to use resources more efficiently, build on one another's expertise, drive innovation, engage in collective action, broaden investments to achieve shared goals, and improve performance."

Remember, we're talking about addressing homeland security challenges.  Resources and expertise... I'll concede those.  But,

What innovation?
What collective action?
What investments?
What shared goals?
What performance?

Does homeland security challenges mean civil unrest?

Remember all of those hollow point bullets Government agencies ordered last summer?
  • Social Security - 174,000 rounds
  • National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) - 46,000 rounds
  • Dept of Homeland Security - 750 million rounds; additional 750 million rounds of miscellaneous bullets including some that are capable of penetrating walls.
[Note: Hollow points are not used for "practice" because they are so expensive. The Geneva Convention bans the use of hollow points in combat. They are, however, standard issue for law enforcement agencies.]

This is enough ammunition to empty five rounds into the body of every living American citizen.  (via Daily Caller)

We're only in the 2nd paragraph.  More to come....

CIA Case Officers Attacked by 14 Mexican Federal Police

The event took place on August 24, and the 14 Mexican federal police officers who took part are now being charged.

Read the full story at Drugs, Guns and Politics in Mexico:

"The two CIA Case Officers were wounded in the incident by spawl and bullet proof glass flaking as bullets repeatedly struck it.According to La Jornada, The PGR charged that the 14 Mexican police agents "tried to take the lives" of the three men in the embassy vehicle." [emphasis mine]

Hmmm.  Haven't seen much of this in the MSM.  Nor any outrage from anyone in D.C.

How much longer can we expect good people to stick their necks out while Washington refuses to back them up?

The Road Ahead

Today is Veteran's Day. To all of you who serve or have served in any of the 5 services (don't forget the Coast Guard)... THANK YOU! Those two words are never enough, but they're all I have for now.

Well, it has been a busy week.  For me, a rollercoaster week that started Monday helping out with Gabby Saucedo Mercer's last minute campaign calls, the huge disappointment of Tuesday night, and the week ending with a Christian retreat that was at once both deeply soul-searching and fun.

Conservative Observer AZ isn't throwing in any towels.  There is enough injustice and hate from the left that will keep me coming back to the keyboard.  For the moment, however, I will be taking a break to think about the fact that the majority of voters who came out to vote are one of the following: 1) Socialist anti-colonialists who deliberately are tearing down America, 2) Shallow ignoramuses who voted for the left because it was "cool", because they fawn over Hollywood stars, or because they get free stuff; or 3) People like one woman I talked to, who voted for the left because she drank the koolaid about Republicans being white, racist people-haters.

More than the fact that people with bad ideas are running the country, what this election shows about American society today is what REALLY bothers me.

Many have said that we have lost our republic.  I hope not, but we shall see.

Gabriela Saucedo Mercer: Vote to Break Free From Liberal Stereotypes

Gabriela Saucedo Mercer stands for opportunity to succeed, to go places and to do things!  Follow her lead and stand up on your own feet and prove what you are capable of!  Change things!

What would Raul Grijalva call you if you became prosperous or wealthy?  Evil?  Out of line?  Needing to be put back in your place?
The central theme of the liberal bandwagon is the idea that the masses, especially minorities, have been oppressed by rich, influential people.  Liberals portray the masses as essentially powerless, in need of a champion who will fight for them.
Every single election.
What have the champions changed?  NOTHING!
Are you
  • Powerless?
  • Oppressed?
  • Weak?
  • A 2nd Class Citizen?
  • Shackled to the lie that you are part of a group that is the stereotype of a powerless, oppressed, weak group of 2nd class citizens and that only by voting for the people like Grijalva who label you do you have any hope for the future?
Who painted that picture? Who gave you that label? Raul Grijalva and his liberal friends!
Vote for Gabriela Saucedo Mercer and

Hezbollah/Cartels link in Mexico? Napolitano: We've Got It Covered

Back on October 21 I wrote (Mexican Border Security: The Perfect Storm) about Arizona CD-3 Republican candidate Gabriela Saucedo Mercer's warning (also referenced here) that border security needs to be treated as national security.
Today, more concern has been expressed about our vulnerability, specifically regarding a potential Hezbollah-drug cartels link in Mexico, this coming from Rep. Sue Myrick (R-N.C.).  The full article on FoxNews.com is worth reading for its broader background on the subject, including references to Tucson Police Department notices.

How concerned is former Arizona governor and Secretary of Homeland Security Janet "Nappy" Napolitano?
[Emphasis mine] "Myrick fired off a letter to Secretary of Department of Homeland Security Janet Napolitano, requesting DHS create a task force solely to watch Islamic extremist groups in Mexico. Napolitano said there was no need, saying current intelligence resources were adequate...

"I don't have a lot of faith in the Department of Homeland Security," said Myrick. "They should be looking at these groups in Mexico much more closely." (FoxNews.com)
So the $64,000 question (before correction for inflation) is, what kind of event will need to take place for the Federal government to get serious about this?

Wait...Who Schmoozes with the Big Corporate 1%ers, Again?

Now, tell me again.. which presidential candidate schmoozes the 1%ers?  Here are Obama's newest bundlers and how much they have raised and given to the Obama reelection campaign:

Former Secretary of State Madelaine Albright..........$200,000 - $500,000
Singer Gwen Stephani..........$500,000+
Sony Pictures CEO Michael Lynton..........$100,000 - $200,000
Former Republican Governor of Florida Charlie Crist..........$100,000 - $200,000
BET Networks CEO Debra Lee..........$50,000 - $100,000
Blackstone COO Tony James..........$500,000+
Movie Director/Producer Spike Lee..........$200,000 - $500,000
Former chairman and CEO for UBS Group Americas and President of the UBS Investment Bank Robert Wolf..........$500,000+
Major event planner Bryan Rafanelli..........$200,000 - $500,000
Executive vice president of Comcast David Cohen..........$500,000+
Hollywood mega-producer Harvey Weinstein..........$500,000+
Heir to the Levi Strauss fortune Doug Goldman..........$500,000+

Clayco CEO Bob Clark..........$500,000+
former Congressman Patrick Kennedy..........$50,000 - $100,000

You're probably wondering why a conservative would have a problem with this.  In fact, I don't.  Conservatives like myself are very pro-business and believe that people like the above group are in a position to create jobs through their companies and foundations.  I also believe they have the right to be hypocrites, endorsing one point of view while living a different one.

So, what is my point?

The Point: all of the liberal blather about the rich, cheating, lying, bad corporate 1%ers are hypocritical lies intended to play on the emotional suffering of what they call the 99%.  Liberal politicians use emotional manipulation to generate anger and hate against successful people and conservatives in order to gain votes.  It really is all about them.

Don't be a liberal pawn - learn to think for yourself.

Obama, Grijalva, and Anti-Colonialism

Dinesh D'Souza made the currently running film documentary, "2016".  I have not seen it yet.  I am, however, reading the book he wrote upon which the film is based ("Obama's America").  In it he explores Barack Obama's roots and personal history in an attempt to better understand the president's ideology.  He makes a compelling case that Obama operates from what he calls an "anti-colonial" mindset.

In a nutshell, anti-colonialism is the worldview that blames colonizing countries such as Britain and France (over the past few centuries) for enriching themselves at the expense of their colonies, by depleting their wealth and goods.  Now that these old colonies have gained independence, they believe that Europeans and (by virtue of our standard of living and world presence) Americans, owe them.

Accordingly, Barack Obama, identifying with his Kenyan father, according to D'Souza, has adopted an anti-colonial agenda which aims to degrade America's strength and wealth down to third world status, and through wealth distribution, raise the status of third world countries as payback.

That's how Obama, for example, can be staunchly opposed to the Keystone pipeline and offshore drilling here in America, yet give billions to Brazil for offshore drilling.  And Mexico, and Venezuela.  It's why he bows to foreign leaders and apologizes for America "dictating to other countries".  By viewing Obama's actions as datapoints, they fit the anti-colonialism model very well.

While musing on this, it struck me like a bolt out of the blue, that anti-colonialism fits Raul "Boycott Arizona" Grijalva's actions very very well also.  He called for economic punishment of his own "colonialist" state (lookup "Aztlan") - as retribution for enforcing the existing law that aliens who are here illegally should be deported.  He recently confirmed that he would gladly do it again.

He cares more for illegal non-citizen aliens than he does for American citizens.  He does nothing to develop jobs in his district (in fact he actively fights their development) while advocating amnesty for "dreamers".  It explains why he doesn't want the Border Patrol within 100 miles of the border.  It's why he opposes business and industrial development that would create prosperity here in America.  It's why he wants the UN to oversee gun control.

Grijalva wants to decimate America so that his third world Chicanas/Chicanos can bring about "self-determination for the Liberation of Aztlán (from Alaska to Tierra del Fuego) ... to dedicate oneself to building a Chicana/Chicano Nation..." (quote from the philosophy page of the national MEChA (Movimiento Estudiantil Chicano de Aztlán) organization).

Requires the lead agency to determine that any such action would not constitute a major federal action significantly affecting the quality of the human environment within the meaning of the National Environmental Policy Act of 1969 (NEPA) if the procedural and substantive safeguards of the lead agency's permitting process alone, any applicable state permitting process alone, or a combination of the two processes together provide an adequate mechanism to ensure that environmental factors are taken into account.
Requires the lead agency's project lead, at a project proponent's request, to enter into an agreement with the project proponent and other cooperating agencies that sets time limits for each part of the permit review process.
Applies this Act to a mineral exploration or mine permit for which an application was submitted before enactment of this Act if the applicant so requests in writing. Requires the lead agency to begin implementing this Act with respect to such application within 30 days after receiving such a request.
Requires the lead agency, with respect to strategic and critical materials within a federally administered unit of the National Forest System, to: (1) exempt from federal regulations governing Special Areas all areas of identified mineral resources in Land Use Designations (other than Non-Development Land Use Designations); (2) apply such exemption to all additional routes and areas that the agency finds necessary to facilitate the construction, operation, maintenance, and restoration of the areas of the identified mineral resources; and (3) continue to apply such exemptions after approval of the Minerals Plan of Operations for the unit.
(Sec. 103) Declares the priority of the lead agency is to maximize mineral resource development while mitigating environmental impacts, so that more of the mineral resource can be brought to the market place.
(Sec. 104) Prescribes the Federal Register notice process for mineral exploration and mining projects.]
