Amusing WH Web Site Background Photo

If you go to the White House web site, this photo is the background on the main page.  I am greatly amused by the filename the White House gave it:

That guy in the White House sure is great fodder for jokes!  Think along the lines of, "The Secret Life of Barack Mitty"...
They call him the 'hero template', because every man wants to be like him.  There he is, standing in front of the giant screw for the newest, secret submarine, surrounded by admiring throngs yearning with arms unconsciously outstretched, reaching - if only! - but for a single pearl of his wisdom.
As he lets his gaze wander over the crowd, little do they know, he thinks to himself, that I am also...SEQUESTER 6!  He can't help the faint smile that creeps across his face.  Yes, I enjoy playing the role of a meek, mild President, but the REAL business is being the Homeland anchor for Squeal Team 6, the brains of the outfit, the...
..."BARRY!  Get your multicultural ass out of that chair and get dressed!  We have to be at that grade school for your press conference announcing my new Cardboard and Kashi school lunch program!  Hurry up foo'!"

BP Agents May Get 40% Pay Cut While Patrol Agents in Charge Get $15-22k Raises

Crossposted by Velcro at Blogs For Borders.

Border Patrol Local 2544 once again shows us from an agent's perspective that the right hand doesn't know what the left hand is doing at higher administrative levels.  We told you about DHS Secretary Janet Napolitano's dramatic pronouncement that the border was secure, which was shortly followed by her ordering that a sequestration cut of $283M jointly to the Border Patrol and Port Inspectors (the two groups have about the same number of agents) was going to be 88% applied to the Border Patrol ($248M).

Napolitano then let hundreds of illegal aliens free who were in detention due to the possibility of a sequestration.
"Seriously, it's going to be bad for...some people..."

NOW, the seemingly unending stream of insults inflicted by dimwitted clowns in higher administration on the rank and file Border Patrol agents continues.  Local 2544 has revealed that on the day we accused Napolitano of playing both sides against the middle, a memo was issued by the Chief of the Border Patrol Mike Fisher announcing that in many sectors, managers (Patrol Agents in Charge or PAICs) will be reclassified up a full grade level.  Locales where PAICs are rated GS-13 will be bumped up to GS-14, and those already at GS-14 will be raised to GS-15.

Which means that rank and file agents who are looking at a 40% cut in salary starting this next month will be watching their managers get between $15,000 and $22,000 raises (if I read the charts correctly).

It could be that the increases might be blocked in the event of sequestration, but that has not been clarified.  For the record, I have no problem giving people increases for doing a good job. The problem here is the old shell game: there's no money for some people, but somehow it's there for others.

300 Illegals Released From Arizona Immigration Detention Centers

Crossposted at Blogs For Borders.

Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has released 300 illegal aliens from detention centers in Arizona, according to the Arizona Daily "Red" Star, because of sequestration cuts that maybe, might happen in a couple of days.
“As fiscal uncertainty remains over the continuing resolution and possible sequestration, ICE has reviewed its detained population to ensure detention levels stay within ICE’s current budget,” said the agency’s spokeswoman Amber Cargile.
While Arizona Governor Jan Brewer was "appalled", Senator Jeff Flake said it was "a deeply misguided move by DHS."
All 5 detention centers involved are located in Pinal County, a large extended piece of land between Tucson and Phoenix.  Pinal County Sheriff Paul Babeau commented that he was not officially notified and only found out by private calls from ICE agents.
Of course, liberals are happy with the development.  One of the more asinine comments was made by Caroline Isaacs, local program director for the American Friends Service Committee:
“To me, it’s simply a more honest revelation of the fact that most of the people in detention don’t need to be there in the first place.”
Well, let's just empty the prisons then...  That would prove that all of them don't need to be there either, right, Sweety?

Napolitano Cries Wolf - Only She's The Wolf

Crossposted at Blogs For Borders.
Last week found DHS Secretary Janet Napolitano charging across the land on a donkey a la Paul Revere proclaiming to all "The Border is Secure!"  This, after her lightning visit to the border in a totally staged (according to some who were there) fact finding expedition.

Closely on the heels of her midnight ride came news of her sequestration plan to not only throw the Border Patrol under the proverbial bus, but to add insult to injury by cutting Border Patrol salaries by 40% in the process, while port inspectors, equal in numbers to BP agents, are comparatively untouched.

In my last post I wanted to help broadcast the Border Patrol's plight, not to mention our nation's border security, due to the idiocy and deceitfulness of the government aristocracy.  Now, in the few days since then, more facts and events have surfaced that only add to the charges against Napolitano.

Fact #1.  It turns out that Arizona congressman Ron Barber (D-Az02) had requested a Government Accountability Office (GAO) report on Border Patrol strategies and resources, to verify how secure the border is.  The report was delivered Dec. 10, 2012.  From the GAO report, Barber concludes,
"This study confirmed that the risk and need of the Tucson Sector of the Border Patrol is high and we need the best possible strategy moving forward."
Janet Napolitano's cry last week was not only a lie, but a lie designed to fly directly into the face of Truth and spit on it.  Truth, in this case, is coming from many quarters.

Fact #2.  Now Napolitano has the audacity to warn Congress about how bad the sequestration cuts will be for the Border Patrol and national security.

The Border Patrol itself has been hamstrung by both high-level corruption going up all the way to Napolitano, and by Obama, who is doing all he can to bring people illegally across the border into the U.S.

I get the feeling that Nappy is playing both ends against the middle.  The problem is that Border Patrol families and National Security hang in the balance while she plays her games.

Napolitano Disproportionately Guts Border Patrol - Sequester Opportunity

Crossposted at Blogs For Borders.

With the sequester cuts scheduled to go into effect next week, the Department of Homeland Security has decided to gut the Border Patrol.

"The Border is Secure!"
You'll recall that DHS Secretary Napolitano toured the Mexican border recently and announced that the "Border is secure."  Apparently this means that funding can be cut, because it must not be needed.

The Border Patrol union website in the Tucson sector posted these comparisons between the hit the BP will take compared with port inspectors:
  • Border Patrol agents number approximately 21,394.
  • Port inspectors number approximately 21,790.
  • Border Patrol agents have been targeted for $248 million in salary cuts.
  • Port inspectors have been targeted for only $35 million in salary cuts.
These cuts include the long-expected cuts to AUO (administratively unavoidable overtime), which pays agents when their shift ends in the middle of an operation to get the bad guys.  Local 2544 estimated the impact of these cuts to the individual agents:
  1. On about March 4th the union will receive a notice from the Agency. The notice will state that they are going to decertify AUO for all agents in 30 days. This means that we will lose our 25% premium pay and our FLSA around the first part of April.
  2. The Agency will also call for placing all agents on one (1) unpaid furlough day per pay period starting in April. That equals a 10% cut in your basic pay.
  3. With both of the above taking place, your pay will be cut about 40%.
The formal notice was sent to the union yesterday (Tues Feb. 19th), and lists out the full range of cuts, including gas, vehicle maintenance, number of vehicles in use, training, and more.  The full text memo is here.

We've documented the BS and insults the DHS Secretary Napolitano and the Obama administration have levelled at the Border Patrol here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here and here in addition to the ones above.  Now, with plans to remove our security in between ports of entry, and with amnesty just around the corner, the Mexican border regions of the U.S. will become even more dangerous than they already are.

But then, border security was never the plan, was it, Barry?

Liberal Ethics: The End Justifies the Means = Home Inspections

The end justifies the means according to liberal theology.  Jimmy Carter discounted any set standards with his Situational Ethics, and who can forget Bill Clinton debating "what the meaning of 'is' is"?

So now comes the State of Washington, determined to ban "assault weapons".  The Seattle Times (2/17/2013):  "Misstep in Gun Bill Could Defeat the Effort"

You would think that the "long awaited assault weapon ban" bill to be introduced in Washington State legislature would have been carefully written before becoming public.  But apparently everyone thought somebody else was paying closer attention, because the main sponsors of the bill had not fully read the document.  As a result, they dropped some cards and everyone saw what was in their hand.

I'm talking about the gun bill that required owners of assault weapons to lock them up, which would be verified on an annual basis by a required law enforcement inspection of your house.

This even surprised a few liberals:
'“They always say, we’ll never go house to house to take your guns away. But then you see this, and you have to wonder.”
That’s no gun-rights absolutist talking, but Lance Palmer, a Seattle trial lawyer and self-described liberal who brought the troubling Senate Bill 5737 to my attention. It’s the long-awaited assault-weapons ban, introduced last week by three Seattle Democrats.'
Of course, nobody took responsibility.  The bills sponsors took the less nasty way out by claiming they had not read the bill closely enough, and ultimately some unknown hack, probably a government intern, got thrown under the bus.  Blah, blah, blah.  They lie like a wet rug.

Tip for conservative sleuths:

One of the ways you can identify a liberal's true agenda is by watching them and listening to them when they're not paying attention, or they think nobody else is paying attention. The offhand comments and acts committed when nobody is supposed to be listening ("I'll have more freedom after the election") or watching (Russian ships and Turkish aircraft cover the visual background at the DNC).

The Malignancy of Tucson Unified School District's Defunct Mexican-American Studies Program

Great example of how liberals like to work.  See my 3 conclusions at the bottom.

[BACKGROUND: MAS was group of courses taught specifically to Hispanic/Latino children along a curriculum aligned with La Raza, MEChA, and their concerted effort to reclaim "Aztlan" ("The Race's" homeland that happens to be the southwest U.S./North America/all of N and S America depending on who you're talking with). The TUSD students were being taught that they were oppressed by white men, that they could be part of a great revolution to take back control and independence over Aztlan, and that any Hispanic or Latino was not a Machismo because they are "vendidos" or traitors, fitting in with the white man's society. Other Conservative Observer AZ blog postings are Here, here, here, here and here, for starters.]
When MAS was ended by TUSD

From the 2/14/2013 Arizona Daily ("Red") Star: "Former TUSD teacher's Mexican American Studies suit dismissed":

"John Ward filed the defamation lawsuit in 2011, claiming false statements made by the then-director of Mexican American Studies Sean Arce and curriculum specialist Jose Gonzalez damaged his reputation as an educator."

TUSD school board meeting when MAS was ended.
"The lawsuit dates to 2002, when Ward was assigned to teach a U.S. history class from a Mexican American perspective. According to Ward, during the first week of school, Augustine Romero, then the director of Mexican American Studies, and Arce, a program specialist who later took over the program, informed him that they would lead instruction but that Ward would assign the grades.
As the teacher of record, Ward was determined to be involved in the instruction and contended Romero and Arce were "not teaching American history but rather were proselytizing a political point of view to the students."

"He claimed to have heard racist comments, denial of American sovereignty in the Southwest United States, advocacy for illegal immigration and impugning of police officers and Anglo teachers as racists."

[More on Sean Arce's recent legal troubles here.]

So, how do Liberals like to work?
  1. Try to indoctrinate young minds.  Truth is to be avoided and replaced with emotionally provocative rhetoric.
  2. Play really really dirty if you are challenged.  Truth is to be avoided and replaced with emotionally attacking rhetoric.
  3. Get a newspaper to say that the suit was "dismissed", thereby implying that it had no merit and an out of court settlement was not reached.  Truth is to be avoided and replaced with emotionally soothing rhetoric.
Why bring this up if it MAS has been ended? TUSD has been ordered to reinstate "cultural studies". Stay tuned...

There Is No 4th Branch of Our Government!

Just a few lines up from this sentence is a question in red that runs through my mind when I hear liberal claptrap:  What the hell are they thinking?  I really am curious why liberals think the way they do.  Well, I think I got a clue... (I know, it's about time I got a clue).

Last week PBS aired twice (Friday and Sunday) a Bill Moyers discussion, "Are Drones Destroying Our Democracy?"  Out of this predominantly liberal discussion on torture and the use of drones to kill American citizens came an offhand comment (twice) that reveals one of the fundamental misperceptions underlying liberal thinking.

Vincent Warren, Executive Director of the Center for Constitutional Rights, makes a startling remark beginning about the 9:30 mark (see also ~29:00ff):
"How transparent will - or should - a government be, in order for the rest of us, the fourth branch of government, the people, to make sure that this type of torture and these types of crimes don't happen in our name?"

WHAT???  In Joe Biden's words, that's a big f*in' deal!  I couldn't believe it.  Instead of "We the People" governing ourselves through our 3 branch government (Executive, Legislative, Judicial), Warren believes that the form or system of government is the primary entity, inside of which the people are placed on an equal footing with the other 3 branches.

Do you see where this leads?  In his view, the people are not in a position to oversee the other 3 branches of government.  The people are now subject to checks and balances built into the system, instead of the checks and balances being a mechanism for preserving the rights of the people.

If the Executive branch has equal power with the people rather than being subordinate to the people, then the people have no business meddling with executive powers, just as the executive has no business meddling in the judicial or the legislative, or vice-versa.

What is our standing to challenge Presidential actions or decisions?  What part do we play vis-a-vis the law? (The legislative branch makes the law, the judicial interprets it, the executive enforces it, the people pay the price for it)...

Where do you think he learned this?

As True Today As It Was 2,000 Years Ago

h/t to Amusing Bunni's Musings (stop by and donate too).

"Do not blame Caesar, blame the people of Rome who have so enthusiastically acclaimed and adored him and rejoiced in their loss of freedom and danced in his path and given him triumphal processions. Blame the people who hail him when he speaks in the Forum of the new wonderful good society which shall now be Rome's, interpreted to mean more money, more ease, more security, and more living fatly at the expense of the industrious."

Marcus Tullius Cicero (106-43 BC).
